From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
